DIY: Fiesta Placemats

Geniet je ook zo van het heerlijke weer? Lekker lang buiten tafelen en zwoele avonden in de tuin.
Ik bedacht een easy peasy DIY om een tuinfeestje nog feestelijker te maken.
Ik pimpte een basic placemat tot een 'Fiesta' placemat! Perfect voor de tuinfeestjes en eindeloos lange avonden buiten. Ik heb er al helemaal zin in!

I created an easy peasy DIY to make a garden party even more festive.
I pimped a basic placemat into a 'Fiesta' placemat! Perfect for garden parties and endless long evenings outside. I'm already looking forward to it!
In this post you can see how I made these placemats.

Fiesta placemats met kwastjes. Wat heb je nodig:

• Basic placemat ( bv een bamboe placemat van Dille & Kamille)
• Draad: wol/ katoen in verschillende kleuren
• Stukje karton van ca 7 x 5 cm
• Schaar
• Borduurnaald

Fiesta placemats with tassels. What do you need:

• Basic placemat (like a bamboo placemat from Dille & Kamille)
• Thread: wool / cotton in different colors
• Piece of cardboard of about 7 x 5 cm
• Scissors
• Embroidery needle

Aan de slag! 

• Draai een stukje draad een paar keer om het kartonnetje. De wijdte is de grootte van je kwastje. 
• Knip het aan een kant door en vouw het open. 
• Knoop met een ander ( wat langer) stuk draad op de helft vast. 
• Vouw het geheel dubbel en knoop met een stukje draad de bovenkant vast. 
• Knip de onderkant recht af. Het kwastje is nu af en klaar om vastgemaakt te worden aan de placemat. Maak kwastjes met verschillende kleuren draad. Ik heb er twee gebruikt. 
• Pak de borduurnaald en haal een stuk van het langste draad door het oog heen en maak het vast aan het einde van de placemat. Herhaal dit totdat de hele rand vol is met kwastjes. 

Get to work!

• Wrap a piece of thread around the cardboard a few times. The width is the size of your tassel.
• Cut it on one side and unfold it.
• Tie it halfway with another (longer) piece of wire.
• Fold the bunch together and tie the top with a piece of thread.
• Cut the bottom straight. The brush is now finished and ready to be attached to the placemat. Make tassels with different colors of thread. I used two kinds.
• Take the embroidery needle and pull a piece of the longest thread through the eye and attach it to the end of the placemat. Repeat until the whole edge is full of tassels.

En klaar is je Fiesta placemat! Leuk voor een zomers tuinfeestje en natuurlijk zijn de placemats ook binnen te gebruiken bij een gezellig diner!

And your Fiesta placemat is ready! Nice for a summer garden party and of course the placemats can also be used indoors for a nice dinner!
